 It was the final and best weather day of the 40th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend. Thirty drivers started the 100-lap ASA Midwest Tour's main event. Six of those drivers were father-son competitors--and well-known Wisconsin racing names: Sauter, Carlson & Holzausen. Tim & Travis Sauter, Steve & Mike Carlson and Steve & Skylar Holzhausen all started the 100-lap feature event. One member of each family finished 1-2-3 in the ASA Midwest Tour Series season finale at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.
Tim Sauter's son Travis ultimately took the win, but not without a heavy-weight battle from Steve Carlson. The two were involved in an tire-on-tire rub incident, that lifted Carlson up onto his two right-side wheels down the frontstretch. Carlson's car came slamming back down onto the track and was not the same after that. He would have to settle for second place. Steve Holzhausen's would finish third, after his car was compromised by running through the infield grass to avoid a spinning Jonathan Eilen on the backstretch.
